Circe's erratic orbit results in a seven-hundred year climatic cycle
that has limited the development of the planetary ecosystem, with a handful of plant varieties
the only species native to the world. The early colonists faced a long struggle to develop a world capable of sustaining human life,
fighting climate as the world approached perihelion in 2831 as well as near-toxic levels of heavy
metals in the soil. The setllers spent considerable effort introducing Terran flora and fauna, mostly deliberatly, but with
occasional accidental releases like the genetically engineered hell's horse adding an element of chaos to the mix. The hell's
horse adapted to a ninche for which the scientists had few plans: the vast deserts. Forests now cover Circe's rolling hills, with Circian oak a
prized commodity. However, the planet's violent storms - a result of Circe's massive twin moons - frequently wreak havoc with oak plantations
as winds of up to 200 kph uproot even the oldest trees.
